Get to Know Coach Q:

For Every Quarter, On and Off the Court

Quinthony’s path to coaching and teaching began with a simple act of stepping up. At just 17 years old, he started mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and by 19, he found himself coaching a 7th and 8th grade basketball team after the head coach failed to show for tryouts. With little more than a clipboard and a commitment to his players, he led that team to national recognition and eventually helped the Dayton Nets AAU program secure a Nike sponsorship.

What started as a way to give back quickly grew into a lifelong mission. Though health issues ended his personal athletic career, Quinthony’s heart never left the court. Inspired by two of his own coaches, Coach Lumpkin and Coach Carter, he understood early on that sports could be a vehicle not just for wins, but for personal growth and transformation.

After relocating to Dallas, Texas, Quinthony pursued alternative certification in speech and communications, adding a degree in family studies to better understand the lives and challenges of his students. Now both an educator and coach, he blends the discipline of sports with the empathy of teaching to reach kids where they are—and help them grow into who they can become.

Quinthony’s approach is built around four key values: leadership, coachability, attitude, and effort. These aren’t just athletic skills—they're life skills.

“For every quarter on and off the court, we train to lead, to listen, to grow, and to give our best.”

That’s the culture Coach Quinthony builds with every drill, every lesson, and every conversation. Because to him, success isn’t just about how you play the game, it’s about who you become through it.
